At Merryhill, students are ready to design with innovation, problem-solve creatively, excel academically, and pave a new path to personal excellence. Students in grades JrK through 8 access iPad for their learning, with a 1:1 implementation in grades 4-8.
Students engage in service-learning projects and community-related design thinking projects which allow them to work with the experts but also give back to the community through time, ideas, donations, and products. On any given day, students may be gathering data using various apps, linking QR codes to relevant research for their design thinking project, or working in groups to study body systems for their educational health app. Students have written and published books for the local zoo to provide a more interactive learning experience for visitors, designed video-based solutions for improving dental hygiene for children and dentists, and drafted and built pulley systems using science, technology, engineering, and math skills.Merryhill has designed a highly innovative learning environment that supports and cultivates their digital learning initiative. Flexible, collaborative learning spaces are key to Merryhill’s successful iPad program, along with highly engaged learning, project-focused classrooms, and personalized instruction. Learning happens both inside and outside the school walls. Furniture is functional, flexible, and movable and can be rearranged as the learning indicates. Hallways are host to gallery walks where student work is showcased with interactive elements, such as QR codes.
